Alaana Way The Shadow of Everything Existing eBook Ken Altabef
This is the 5th and final book in the Alana series by Ken Altabef and he does not disappoint. He uses each book to add additional depth and color to a unique world which he has created. In each book Ken introduces additional myths and stories and weaves them into a overarching plot. This book is the climax and conclusion for his series and he does not leave you hanging. I have read all 5 books in this series now and the best thing I can say is that I couldn’t put the books down until they were done. I read the last 3 books on a trip in rapid succession. While the book has a historical component and a mystical component it is the characters and their development which really grab your attention. If you would like to enjoy a great read and something different I recommend this series. My only compliant is that the series is over and I can not look forward to more books.Product details

Alaana Way The Shadow of Everything Existing eBook Ken Altabef Reviews
Well thought out and well written, this series is a good read, especially for fans of native cultures and fantasy.
This is the thrilling conclusion of the five book Alaana's Way series. I am super glad that I discovered this series as I really enjoyed it. I read a lot of science fiction/fantasy, non-fiction history, as well as historical novels, and this book and the series combines all of those genres. On the one hand the book is set in the past in the arctic circle among the native people and provides an interesting look at the Inuit culture, the Anatatook tribe and their lifestyle. There is even a helpful glossary in the back of the book of the Anatatatook terms used. That is the interesting historical part of the book. On the other hand the heroine, Alaana a Shaman, is fighting to save the world's demise from an evil sorcerer Vithrok, a creature from the beforetme. Alaana, has the special gift of the Shaman of being able to see the spirit world, interact with the spirit guides, and see the "inua", or soul, of every living creature. Thus, like Rick Riordan who brough Greek Mythology to life in his Percy Jackson books, author Ken Altabef, brings to life here the mythology of the Inuits. That is the fantasy side of the book. The story explores themes of destiny, free will, honor, duty, redemption and the effects of technological advancement on one's culture. The book has an interesting cast of supporting characters, both in the real world and the spirit world, and moves along at a brisk pace with scenes of Eskimo raiding parties, steamships, caribou hunts and, spirit trips to the bottom of the sea, the moon, and everywhere in between, with a lot of action packed in. The author does a nice job weaving the story lines and tying everything together in the end. I'm still debating whether I am happy with the way Alaana's world is changed at the end of the book, and what it means for her and her world (and our world), which in my view is the sign of a well written book, that I care about the characters and what happens to them. The series can be read in order, or not, either way I recommend reading this book as well as the whole series. Like the Harry Potter or Hunger Games books, the Alaana's Way series can be enjoyed by all ages from middle school students on up.

Enjoyed reading another Alaana book. Will start next one next week. Thanks for the great stoty line. Another great book.
I'm sad that this is the end of the saga. I truly enjoyed this story. I live in Alaska and know the chronological history of the state and it's native people's and think this was a good fictional representation of the people who inhabited Alaska in pivotal period of history.
I read the complete Series. It was fascinating. The Spirits,Turgats,Totems, the relationship between the people and the Spirit world cannot be missed in these novels. It is as it is still taught amongst Native Americans today. If you are looking to enlighten yourself about Native Spirituality, these five books should help you on your way.
Besides the story is excellent, well researched, thought out, and written.
